Named for the next generation

A farm meant to outlast us.

River Cade Farms is named for our sons, River and Wilder—a daily reminder that the land and the work should be better when they inherit it.

Black bull at River Cade Farms in Tallassee, Alabama

01 · Our beginning

Three calves and damaged ground.

Former timberland near Tallassee had been stripped, compacted, and left without the root structure or organic matter healthy pasture needs.

In 2020, we decided not simply to farm it, but to restore it. We began with three calves and built the system around what the land could honestly support.

“We choose animals that fit the land instead of forcing the land to fit an industrial production system.”

02 · How we farm

Impact, rest, and regrowth.

Cattle graze and fertilize

Managed movement supports root growth and soil life.

Hogs root and forage

Natural behavior aerates soil across pasture and woodland.

Pasture rests

Grass regrows and roots deepen before animals return.

03 · Our family

River and Wilder grow up close to the work.

They see the animals, help with chores, and learn where food comes from through direct experience. That keeps us accountable to more than a single season's return.

We sell directly to Central Alabama families so the line between farmer and table stays short, visible, and honest.
